Unique and distinguishable, the Burrowing Owl is incredibly captured in this realistic design. Its characteristic big, bright eyes, flattened face and featherless long legs give this "species of special concern" in the United States its individuality. It is also endangered in Canada and threatened in Mexico.
Movable head and wings.
FACTS OF INTEREST
Burrowing owls are found in open grassland or desert habitat, from the Canadian prairies down through much of South America.
Burrowing owls hunt during the day when they can be seen running around on their long legs like roadrunners.
Even though they are called burrowing owls, they usually move into a burrow that has been abandoned by a rodent.
Burrowing owls are endangered in Canada and of special concern in the western U.S. and Florida. They are threatened by poisons used for crops and by habitat destruction.
The Burrowing Owl puppet is rather small, but definitely very cute. It has a somewhat surprised look on its face, and the eyes are very beautiful. Even though Folkmanis says 'moveable head' this really only means you can tilt the head a little, it doesn't turn like Snowy's head does. The fur is very realistic, with perfect white spots dotting the wings and back. While it doubles as a perfectly normal stuffed animal, and is quite soft, if you want a professional cuddler, I suggest Owlet made by the same company.

I purchased this puppet for my 2 year old daughter, who loves the puppets at the library ESPECIALLY the owl ones where the head turns. Although the puppet is beautiful and my daughter absolutely loves it, the head does NOT turn, even though the description states "movable head and wings." I was thinking the head would rotate (the movable part) not just being able to put your fingers inside the head. I'm disappointed that the feature I wanted most was not available on this puppet, but it's still a beautiful puppet.
