They’re cute, they’re zany, they’re the latest singing sensation for kids and adults. Introducing The Sing-a-ma-jigs! The Sing-a-ma-jigs characters are now doubling the fun with The Sing-a-ma-jigs Duets. With one press of both their bellies, they will simultaneously open their little mouths (showing those funny teeth and tongues) and sing, harmonize and chatter together. Sure to put a smile on your face with 3 different ways to play: Chatter (they speak their own language full of jibber and jabbers), Sing a Song (you control the pace of the song), and Harmonize where each Sing-a-ma-jig sings a scale in a pitch specific to that character (some high, some low). Squeeze their left hands to change modes then squeeze their tummies to see their mouths open and hear them sing and chatter! But the Sing-a-ma-jigs' favorite thing to do is harmonize! Start with 2, now 3, now 4, now add more! Start your own Sing-a-ma-jigs group today! Includes 2 “AAA” (R03) batteries. 2010 Winner of the following: Good Housekeeping Magazine "Best Toy Awards", Time Magazine "Top Ten Toys of 2010", Parenting Magazine "Toys of the Year", Parents Magazine "Top Toys of the Year". We already have group of Sing-A-Ma-Jigs and have loved having them sing together. I was thrilled to see these new Sing-A-Ma-Jigs come as a pair of harmonizing pals.

This duet does a nice job singing together and I especially like when they say their hellos and goodbyes in their higher/lower voices. The little pink baby is permanently attached to the larger purple one so there is no chance of running around with them apart. Their mouths move in unison while they are singing but they don't move with their hello and goodbye.

They are cute as a single in the same way that the original Sing-a-Ma-Jigs are cute in groups. These are fun idea to add to a collection or give as a gift on their own.

Their play value (or lack of it) comes when your child goes back to them again and again but they don't stay engaged for a long time with each visit. They are a short time play item but fun to pick up again.

Disclaimer: Reviewer received a free Sing-A-Ma-Jig in exchange for honest review.

When I received the Sing-Ma-Jig Duet, I was not impressed. Okay, it's kind of cute although the mouths are definitely off putting. It's easy enough the squeeze the hand to change the mode. However, to actually make the song play, you have to squeeze the tummy to produce each and every note, and because of the choral effect it is next to impossible to tell what song is being sung unless you squeeze the tummy hard and fast. Even then, you have to listen very carefully to be able to catch the song. The mode for singing in harmony is just plain freaky-- it sounds as though a cat is walking across an organ and stomping on keys at random. If the child is able to actually be successful in squeezing the tummy enough to play this mode, I predict it will quickly drive the parent nuts. The best mode is the chatter mode-- the voices are high pitched and clearly designed to catch the attention of...Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've bought my daughter a couple of Sing-A-Ma-Jigs in the past (Easter Bunny being one of them) and they're fairly cute, at least for a while. The singing and harmonizing function is entertaining and they're a good toy for her, for what they are. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the Sing-A-Ma-Jig Duets Purple with Baby (the baby is permanently attached, for those wondering) for one major reason: you can't really understand the song. All Sing-A-Ma-Jigs have a vague odd, synthetic-sounding voice, but they're understandable enough (if it sings "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" or "Yankee Doodle," you can understand each word rather well). The Purple with Baby sings "Hello! Ma Baby," the same tune that the dancing frog sings in Loony Toons. The mouths of each move simultaneously with each press of the belly, already "harmonized." The voices are very, very high pitched and a bit off-tune in places, so while I can tell what they're singing on account of the fact that I know what they're...Read more
